On May 12, 2025, the Italian higher education system indeed witnessed a nationwide strike. The detailed information about this strike is as follows:

Initiating Organizations: The strike was jointly launched by the Educators' Federation of the General Confederation of Italian Workers (FLC CGIL), the Assembly of Temporary Employees, the coordinating organizations, and relevant associations.

Participants: It includes non-tenured staff such as contract researchers, part-time teachers, and administrative temporary workers, as well as full professors and students who show their support for these groups.

Strike Demands:

  • Abolish the clauses in the 2024 Bernini Reform that exacerbate employment instability.
  • Establish a national unified recruitment examination system to break the academic oligopoly.
